I saw Pixars Wall-E the other night. Brilliant movie. As i was strolling home in the warm Copenhagen summernight i felt inspired to attempt to iconize these adorable creations.
At first i was just trying to challenge myself and see if i could get the textures right. But as the hours went, Wall-E started to take shape. By the end of the night i had around 500 layers in photoshop and one grimy little robot.
You are looking at 500 layers of pixels
What i find particularly interesting with the character design of EVE & Wall-E, is the huge contrasting dualism in the shapes and textures. These guys could hardly be any more different - and as an aspiring iconist that was just too good a challenge to pass up. I hope you like these guys and put them to good use. Ofcourse all credit go to Pixar and Disney for their wonderful work on these amazing characters. You inspire us.
Download these icons from the goodies section.
Wow! Congratulations to you to, Wall-E is incredilbe… very nice.
Freakin sweet! I’ve been waiting for someone to make some wall-e Icons! They’re great! Awesome work
You are by far my favorite artist; Keep up the great work.
They are very detailed and look stunning. I loved the movie and I love your icons.
WOW - 500 layers. that’s impressive. and I can’t tell the difference between your icons and pixar’s characters. that proves yet again that you are a real master of graphic design. photoshop is like a magic wand for you (for me photoshop is like trying to use a hammer and silexes to build a car… :/). you seriously impress me, and i like the fact that you communicate in your post all the hard work these icons represent. There’s no word to describe this. just - WOW -
Excellent work.
Pardon my ignorance or stupidity - how do I convert the Adobe PICT Resource File into an ICNS? Photoshop doesn’t seem to be able to open or import it.
Great work Michael - it looks just stunning. But I can see it is photoshopped…the shadows and reflections are all wrong
@Stephen You don’t need to convert them to ICNS files - the files included work just fine as icon files in OSX.
Oh, and you can’t open icon files with photoshop.
Thanks for the nice comments guys. Im glad that you appreciate the work put into these - it makes it all worth it.
These images are amazing! and you are an artist! congratulations
SÅ lækre ikoner Michael. Fantastisk stykke arbejde!
These icons are great but i can’t download it, because the server says: The requested URL /icon/files/wall-e.zip was not found on this server.
Can you help me to download this great icons? thanks from venezuela and sorry for my poor english.
@Fiannolo and everyone else experiencing problems:
My hosting company is screwing me over right now. Due to the amount of traffic incoming, they’ve deemed it appropriate to rename files on my server so you can’t get to them. I’m constantly trying to rename them back and set the proper CHMOD values. Right now they should all be back up, but i don’t know for how long.
So if you’re having problems, check back later and hopefully they’ll be up.
Woah! You know I’ve already told you, but dude… they are freaking great! Now I just gotta watch the movie and get people to digg the shit out of this… and quick!
Stunning icones!
I’m about a year late, but you are a god amongst men, Michael. Finding an EVE icon took way longer than it should have. Great job on both of these.
